Dangerous during earthquake due to glass everywhere + loud construction on both sides

I would NOT recommend this hotel following a major earthquake since all the CEILINGS ARE ALL GLASS including ALL egress points, making exits, particularly for anyone traveling with an elderly person or children difficult. There is a new high-rise building being built next door so it is extremely noisy with construction, plus the mall next door had damage- and more heavy construction making for a loud, not relaxing environment. The check in staff were not caring or accommodating which is rare in the hospitality industry in Colombia and we ended up cancelling our reservation upon arrival not feeling safe, worried about noise, then booked across the street (same hotel chain) and they refused to give us a refund, despite my mother being a 15 year patron of the hotel. Not cool. I called the hotel before arriving after the 7.4 earthquake and was told there was not much earthquake damage and that the hotel was in good condition. I now think that was a subjective answer. When we arrived, there was visible damage, including a missing glass restaurant façade and broken glass from the large glass-covered entrance/drop-off area, broken stairs at egress points which meant less exit points (especially that a senior citizen can climb). Having been somewhat traumatized being on the 21st floor of another hotel during the earthquake, I wanted to make sure we felt safe -- and I had never been to the hotel. Most concerning was the evacuation route. From our third-floor room, the designated routes appeared to require walking through areas beneath extensive glass ceilings around the restaurant, pool, atrium, and main hotel exit. Look at the photos. Another route appeared to involve a stairway damaged by the earthquake. With my elderly mother, I was extremely uncomfortable with this. We had barely entered the room and had not put our belongings down. I asked to leave and receive a refund, but the hotel refused, even though Expedia was willing to refund the reservation. We ultimately paid to stay at the hotel across the street which is also a Spiwak property. The lack of transparency and customer service was extremely disappointing. After a 7.4 earthquake, I would strongly recommend choosing another hotel. While I full appreciate the work being done to fix the hotel and am empathetic to folks given the earthquake, consideration has to be made when guests don't feel safe or concerned with noise levels.

Las personas son amables, buscan que la estadía sea agradable y siempre están muy dispuestas a prestar un buen servicio además de mostrar cercanía. La habitación es muy amplia y cómoda en general.

− Las almohadas no me parecieron cómodas, la alfombra de la habitación necesita lavado o mantenimiento. Usé el teléfono para llamar a servicios de lavandería y conserjería y nunca contestó nadie. La vista hacia el exterior mejoraría si las ventanas estuvieran más limpias.
