Excellent location, but the hotel was a major disappointment

The hotel has an excellent location and looks beautiful from the outside. Unfortunately, the good impression ends as soon as you enter the building. When booking, I selected the option of two separate beds. However, the hotel informed me that this would only be provided “subject to availability”, which I found disappointing. We arrived late in the evening and were given a room with a faulty door lock. We could not open the door and called a member of staff. She could not open it at first either and only managed to open the door with considerable difficulty. The first thing we noticed inside the room was a broken electrical socket. Despite the fact that there were vacant rooms in the hotel, our room was not changed that evening. The following day, we went to reception and asked to change rooms. The staff were clearly unhappy with our request and showed us several other rooms, from which we chose the best one available. The main problem with all the rooms was their extremely small size. I had specifically chosen a larger room, but it turned out that the advertised room size included not only the actual room but also the bathroom and corridor. The living space was so small that we felt as if we were in a lift. The hotel is also in need of renovation: paint is peeling in places and the floor is in poor condition, with cracks. This is quite a contrast to the beautiful appearance of the building from the outside. Another unpleasant detail was that a dead pigeon lay directly below our window for all four days of our stay, and nobody removed it. Unfortunately, these four days were more of an ordeal than a pleasant stay. Despite the excellent location, I would not choose to stay at this hotel again.

Great location. The staff were friendly and helpful.

− The AC did not work in our room. We were on the 5th floor and the temperature in Nice was in the high 90’s. Our room was absolutely unbearable. It was stifling. We were told that the hotel was filled to capacity and changing rooms was not an option. The only saving grace was they brought us a fan. Not a fun experience!

− Rooms was their extremely small size. The rooms were shabby. A dead pigeon lay under the window. The staff is impolite.

If you visit this hotel, ask for a paid note receipt for any in-house services you use, whether you pay with cash or car

The location and nothing else. The rooftop bar was magical.

− The reception manager (a middle-aged man) was arrogant when we checked out. He wanted to charge me for rooftop bar services I hadn’t used. We were always paying in cash. So we left for our next destination, and they charged us for the rooftop bar service without our consent. Unbelievable for a hotel like this in France. I called them from Spain to discuss, but they ignored me. They told me to send an email and said they would look into it. They still do.

Posizione strategica, molto comoda.

− La piscina in terrazza è molto più piccola di come appare nelle foto, non siamo riusciti ad utilizzarla perché c’era molta gente e pochi posti disponibili per le sdraio, peccato.
